Inskription på stenen nederst till vänster:" Dieser Stein und Stette gehöret ION Hans Svenson Bröger und seinen Erben"
"Hier under light begraffen Kristian Swart Bröger ist in Gott endslafen den 20 april anno 1673. Gott fürlige em einen frolies aufebestung. Ist in got endslafwen. Meiner liebe Hausfrau Anna Bowe ist gestårben den 29 juli anno 1692."
"Ionas Svensson Bryggere Catharina Hödggerds zu einem sieheren Ort ich nun gekommen byn alle Angst unt Noht ist nun dahin. Meinen Todt niemandt beveinen soll. Ich lebe in Gott und mier ist Woll."
Inskription på stenen nederst till höger:" Denna sten och lägersted tillhör mig Pär Swenson och min k. hustru Maria Lang och rätta arvingar. Anno 1674."
Storkyrkan i Kalmar, helgad åt sjöfararnas helgon S:t Nikolai började byggas på 1200-talet. På 1300-talet var den treskeppig och förklarades av Erik av Pommern (regent 1397-1439) för "halffuan doom", det vill säga nästan domkyrka. Den byggdes ut till femskeppig med sidokapell. Svenskarna sprängde kyrkan 1678 så att danskarna inte skulle kunna använda den som skydd. En del inventarier hade då förts över till den nya domkyrkan.
