Familjen Jacobowsky, känd och framstående judisk familj i Uddevalla, innehade under 1800-talets andra hälft - 1900-talets början ett handelshus i textilbranschen, först på Norra Hamngatan, sedan på Södra Hamngatan i Uddevalla.
Stolarna med bord och skänk, (UM022667-UM022669) fanns i familjens matsal i Uddevalla, ärvdes av sonen Vilhelm Jacobowsky, död 1986 vid drygt 90 års ålder, vilken testamenterade möbeln till museet. Vilhelm Jacobowsky var verksam som chef för Stifts-och Landsbiblioteket i Skara.
Föräldrarna var Efraim Jacobowsky (1851 - 1929) och Rosa Jacobowsky, f. Simkowsky (1860 - 1954).

Efraim Jacobowsky var judisk invandrare från Filipow i Polen. Tillsammans med sina bröder startade han sin affärsbana i Fjällbacka 1872. I november 1874 flyttade rörelsen till Uddevalla, först på Kungsgatan 19, därefter på våren 1883 till hörnfastigheten Norra Hamngatan - Västerlånggatan. Butiken hette Jacobowskys Manufaktur- Galanteri- och kortvaruhandel och kallades i folkmun Judens hörna. Butiken var kan sägas vara Uddevallas första varuhus och hade avdelningar för många olika varor. Här fanns kappor, manufaktur, kortvaror, tyger och sybehör, konfektyrer, tobaksvaror, kaffe, viner, skodon och lädervaror.
En eldsvåda i februari 1913 förstörde byggnaden så att den ej kunde återuppbyggas.
Efraim Jacobowsky var gift med Rosa Jacobowsky, f. Simkowsky (1860-1954). Efraim Jacobowsky var mosaisk trosbekännare. Han är begravd tillsammans med sin hustru på mosaiska kyrkogården i Göteborg.

Rosa Jacobowsky.
Fru Rosa Jacobowsky, Uddevalla, har avlidit i en ålder av 94 år.
Den bortgångna var dotter till den kände antikvitetshandlaren Marcus Limbowsky, [Marcus Simkowsky 1831 - 1904] tillsammans med vilken hon i unga år företog omfattande resor för uppköp av antikviteter på kontinenten.
År 1891 ingick hon äktenskap med direktör Efraim Jacobowsky i Uddevalla.
Alltifrån starten 1912 var den bortgångna ledamot av styrelsen för Uddevalla barnkrubba, och hon var också på sin tid en av de ledande inom Uddevalla flickscoutkår.
Åren 1914 – 1919 tillhörde hon fattigvårdsstyrelsen i Uddevalla.
Efter makens bortgång förvaltade fru Jacobowsky Fröland med flera lantegendomar i Lane-Herrestad. Den bortgångna sörjes närmast av barn.

Bibliotikarie coh biografisk författare. Son till Efraim Jacobowsky och Rosa Simkowsky.
Gifte sig 1939 med Agda Sandberg (1907-1975).
Vilhelm arbetade som länsbibliotikarie i Östersund och därefter landsbibliotikarie som chef för Stifts-och Landsbiblioteket i Skara.
Vilhelm skrev flertalet böcker, bl.a.
