Dialog började tillverkas 1962 och blev Televerkets standardtelefon i mars 1969. Formgivarna från arkitektkontoret Ahlgren-Olsson-Silow (AOS) var starkt influerade av amerikanen Henry Dreyfuss ergonomistudier.
De främsta fördelarna med ett hölje av plast var att man reducerade telefonens vikt och att den blev billigare att tillverka. Den svenska telefonen Dialog var resultatet av ett projekt som framhöll att formgivning, ergonomi, teknik och tillverkningsmetod skulle ha lika prioritet. Den nya telefonen innehöll flera nyheter bland vilka kan nämnas ergonomiskt utformad lur, kåpa med inbyggt bärgrepp, reglerbar ringklocka, automatisk reglering av transmissionsnivån i förhållande till abonnentledningens längd och att den var möjlig att få i flera färger. Den tillverkades både av L.M Ericsson och Televerkets verkstad, i regel med fingerskiva men även i flera varianter med knappsats.
Föremålet tillhör den samling från Telemuseum som skänktes av TeliaSonera AB till Tekniska Museet 2010.
