- Utvecklad 1954-55 av Stig Bondesson och Lennart Lundberg för FOA 2, Grindsjön där den även använts. FOA grundades den 1 juli 1945 för att samordna forskningsverksamhet inom försvarsområdet. I början var det forskning kring raketvapen och riktad sprängverkan mot pansrade mål som dominerade arbetet. Förloppen som skulle studeras var vanligtvis mycket snabba, från mikrosekunder till ett fåtal millisekunder. För att registrera dessa krävdes avancerade höghastighetskameror. Eftersom de kameror som FOAs avdelning 2 hade tillgång till inte helt fyllde de krav man ställde började man modifiera dem. På grund av situationen efter kriget hade de svenska forskarna mycket begränsad tillgång till information och ny teknik. Följden blev att medarbetare inom FOA hade förhållandevis fria händer att utveckla kamerorkonstruktioner med okonventionella lösningar.
