Denna elektriska tandborste, av märket Nitor Brevettato inköptes på 1950-talet i Italien av Johannes F Larsen, civilingenjör inom elektroteknik, (1915 – 2006) som också använt den. Larsen hade företag som sålde bl a kvartslampor och reste regelbundet på mässor till bl a Milano och Schweiz, där han även var bosatt på 1950-talet. Troligtvis har han kommit över eltandborsten under denna tid.
Den elektriska tandborsten uppfanns av Dr Philippe Guy Woog i Schweiz 1938 och och började säljas i större omfattning 1954 av Schweiziska Broxo, senare Broxodent, både i Schweiz och på export. De tidiga eltandborstarna användes naturligtvis för att borsta tänderna men även som ett hjälpmedel för att avhjälpa läspning. Det finns ett tidigt patent på en så kallad eltandborste från 1800-talets slut. Denna är dock inte elektrisk utan har endast en sorts magnet.På en slags rakapparat från 1930-talet fanns ett tillbehör för att borsta tänderna. Woogs eltandborste verkar dock vara den första egentliga eltandborsten. Nitor-tandborsten påminner om Woogs såtillvida att hela apparaturen är nätansluten och att borsten kopplas på denna (inte som dagens som är uppladdningsbara). Som tillägg kan nämnas att Nitors tandborste har ett ergonomiskt grepp som Broxos saknar. Till Nitortandborsten hör borsthuvuden i olika färger, sannolikt för att tandborsten skulle kunna delas med flera personer.
