Strumporna som reglementsenligt bars till uniformen m/68 var ”Strumpa m/60” och kom ursprungligen tillsammans med den uniform som hette m/60. Den uniformen som bars både som daglig dräkt och högtidsdräkt kallades av de värnpliktiga populärt för ”permissionsuniform” eller ”permisuniform/permissvid”. Den bars även av Driftvärnssoldater.
Strumporna har tillhört en chef vid SJ:s Driftvärn.
Efter att SJ:s Driftvärn lades ner 2005 behölls en del föremål från verksamheten i ett litet 'museum' eller traditionsrum som det kallades, på den f d kursgården i Dala-Storsund i Dalarna. Kursgården var en av 12 sådana runt om i landet som från början ägdes av Statens Järnvägar. Gårdarna användes för att Driftvärnspersonalen skulle lära sig skytte, militär stridsteknik mm. Vid bolagiseringen av SJ överfördes gården till Banverket, som senare blev till Trafikverket.
Då Trafikverket i sin tur beslöt att bygga om och modernisera anläggningen 2013 revs det s k traditionsrummet och föremålen lades i förvar till Sveriges Järnvägsmuseum hämtade dem oktober 2014. Gården i Dala-Storsund anlades 1954 och var också den sista som användes.
