Motorflygplanet av modellen Lockheed 12 Electra Junior tillverkades 1942 av Lockheed Aircraft Co, USA och beställdes ursprungligen av Nederländska Ostindiens (idag Indonesien) regering. Det levererades den 13 april 1942. I och med att japanska trupper ockuperat Nederländska Ostindien, blev flygplanet sommaren 1942 överfört till Kungliga Nederländska Flygskolan i Jackson, Missouri, USA, med serienummer L2-45. Flygplanet blev den 11 mars 1944 uthyrt till KLM i Curacao, Nederländska Västindien för användning som trafikflygplan. Även om civilregistreringen PJ-AKE tilldelades, blev flygplanet inte använt som trafikflygplan. I början av 1945 överfördes flygplanet till Netherlands Communications Squadron i Storbritannien med serienummer CX245. Flygplanet döptes till ”Friesland”.
Den 8 maj 1945 anlände flygplanet till Deelen, Nederländerna och överfördes därefter till Royal Netherlands Air Force med serienummer T-3. Som en följd av ett landningshaveri i Valkenburg den 18 oktober 1951, togs flygplanet ur tjänst i mars 1952.
Flygplanet såldes till Airtaco AB, Stockholm, vilka den 17 april 1953 lämnade in en ansökan om att införa detsamma i svenskt luftfartygsregister. I samband med besiktning den 21 augusti 1957 godkändes ej ansökan på grund av att renoveringsarbetet utförts vid en icke auktoriserad verkstad på Kastrup, Danmark.
Den 3 september 1957 såldes flygplanet till Sven Andersson, Fjärdhundra. Sven Andersson (bror till ägaren av och flygkaptenen vid Airtaco, Torvald Andersson). Flygplanet har inte flugits i Sverige utan fungerat som reservdelslager.
Flygplanet skänktes 1990 till Luftfartsverkets historiska samlingar.
Lockheed 12 togs ursprungligen fram som ett direktionsflygplan. Dock kom åtskilliga att brukas av olika flygvapen. Efter 1945 inregistrerades fem Lockheed 12 i Sverige, där de primärt användes för att transportera dagstidningar. Fyra av dem blev officiellt registrerade och de köptes samtliga av Torvald Andersson, grundaren av Airtaco (senare Linjeflyg). Detta flygbolag grundades för att utföra tidningsflygningar, men kom snart att expandera till reguljära inrikesflygningar med passagerare.
