- History
John Johnson föddes i Naverstad i Bohuslän år 1861. Han gick på Uddevalla elementarläroverk. Flyttade därefter till Göteborg för att ägna sig åt affärverksamhet, främst vinhandel. Det var under denna tid som han skaffade sig en betydande förmögenhet.
År 1885 gifte sig John Johnson med Ingeborg Josefina Klemenson, född 1859 i Fredrikstad. Paret fick sönerna John Arne och Reidar Ring.
Mellan åren 1904 och 1928 bodde familjen Johnson i huvudsakligen i Stockholm med några kortare avbrott.
Från 1928 är Villa Hemmet i Ulricehamn paret Johnsons hem.
Fru Ingeborg Johnson avlider redan år 1932. John Johnson dör i november 1951.
Konstverken JJ01 - JJ67 utgör John Johnsons donation till Uddevalla stad genom testamente och utgör merparten av de tavlor han samlat sedan 1890-talet.
