Barn som plundra fågelnästen
Scenen utspelar sig i kanten av ett vattendrag, där två små pojkar har kilat in sin båt bakom ett stort träd som växer snett ut över vattnet. I skydd av det stora trädet och den frodiga grönskan, bland vita näckrosor, har en fågel byggt sitt bo. Den ena pojken lutar sig fram över båtkanten medan den andra har tagit sig runt trädstammen. Tillsammans närmar de sig fågelnästet från två håll, för att kunna komma åt de eftertraktade äggen.
Henry Dawson kom från fattiga omständigheter och växte upp i Nottingham, där han som ung började arbeta i en spetsfabrik. Han insåg tidigt att han ville bli konstnär och från 1835 valde han att helt ägna sig åt måleri. Förutom sex lektioner för konstnären James Baker Pyne (1800–1870) år 1838 var Henry Dawson helt självlärd. När han år 1849 flyttade till London med sin familj hade han lyckats skapa sig ett namn som landskapsmålare. Han tog djupt intryck av William Turners (1775–1851) måleri och utvecklade sitt eget uttryck i samma riktning. Trots att han var respekterad och ansedd under sin samtid, blev han aldrig ett namn för den breda publiken.

- History
John Johnson föddes i Naverstad i Bohuslän år 1861. Han gick på Uddevalla elementarläroverk. Flyttade därefter till Göteborg för att ägna sig åt affärverksamhet, främst vinhandel. Det var under denna tid som han skaffade sig en betydande förmögenhet.
År 1885 gifte sig John Johnson med Ingeborg Josefina Klemenson, född 1859 i Fredrikstad. Paret fick sönerna John Arne och Reidar Ring.
Mellan åren 1904 och 1928 bodde familjen Johnson i huvudsakligen i Stockholm med några kortare avbrott.
Från 1928 är Villa Hemmet i Ulricehamn paret Johnsons hem.
Fru Ingeborg Johnson avlider redan år 1932. John Johnson dör i november 1951.
Konstverken JJ01 - JJ67 utgör John Johnsons donation till Uddevalla stad genom testamente och utgör merparten av de tavlor han samlat sedan 1890-talet.
