KLØVEN poståpneri ble opprettet 1812 på handelsstedet Kløven, på Senja, sør for Finnsnes i Tranøy prestegjeld, senere Sørreisen sogn.
KLØVEN erstattet poståpneriet på KASTNES og hadde anløp av de første dampskipet (1838).Ved Kgl.res. 30.6.1852 med en bipost mellom Kløven poståpneri og Maalselven sogn så ofte som båtposten eller postførende dampskip anløper Kløven. (Denne biposten ga Målselv og Indre Troms tilknytning til postnettet).
Poståpneriet ble lagt under Tromsø postdistrikt fra 1.10.1868.
Navnet ble medio 1908 endret til KLAUVEN. Sirk. 27, 20.5.1908.
Ifølge "Norske Filatelistika" hadde poststedet først 3-rings kassasjonsstempel nr 154 og fikk tildelt datostempel den 20.1.1859 av en-rings type med stenskrift bokstaver.
Poståpneriet ble nedlagt 1914 da handelsvirksomheten ble nedlagt. (Året etter ble det opprettet poståpneri i nabobygda Russevaag (Russevåg).

(Knud Moe har attestert en timeseddel fra 1853 og nevnes i en eldre poståpnerprotokoll å være poståpneri til ca. 1860).
