Frue kirke eller Hetlandskirken er oppført etter tegninger av arkitekt Hans Kaas i 1854. Kirken har en bred basilikaform med et tårn i vest. Kirken har en blanding av senklassisisme, nygotikk og tidlig sveitserstil, og bærer preg av å være trearkitektur som ikke lenger skulle imitere steinarkiteksturens former.
Kirken har gjennomgått flere endringer, og under restaureringen i 1991-92 ble det funnet tre lag med dekorasjonsmaling. Den opprinnelige altertavlen ble fjernet på 1930-tallet og erstattet av store glassmalerier av korsfestelsen, oppstandelsen og himmelfarten. Døpefonten og prekestolen er utført i senempireformer.
