Hovin kirke er en korskirke i tre med et sakristi på nordsiden av koret og et tårn foran den vestre korsarm. Kirken stod ferdig i 1695 og erstattet en stavkirke fra 1300-tallet.
Interiøret gjennomgikk større endringer i 1855. Da fikk kirkerommet et nytt galleri i søndre korsarm, et nytt slakt buehvelv over korsarmene og tømmerveggene ble kledd med bord, og benkene fikk nye vanger. Altertavlen og døpefonten ble overført fra stavkirken. Altertavlen er datert 1675 og er rikt dekorert med beslagornamentikk og gjennombrutte vinger i bruskbarokk. Storfeltet mangler fylling mens toppfeltet har maleri av korsfestelsen. Døpefonten fra 1637 har timeglassform med volutter, lister og ornamentikk. Prekestolen med veggplate og himling er fra byggetiden, mens oppgangen er fra 1922. Prekestolen har fire fag, der storfeltene har portalmotiv med slyngbånd adskilt av doble marmorerte hjørnesøyler.
