Astrid Dibbelt var styvdotter till prästen i Bokenäs. År 1922 gifte hon sig med Otto Ernst Ewald Dibbelt (1881-1956). Otto Dibbelt var en tysk biolog, pedagog och grundare av ett museum år 1951 som senare har fått namnet Deutschen Meeresmuseum, Stralsund.
Paret träffades troligen när Otto Dibbelt under en termin år 1920 studerade på Kristinebergs marinbiologiska station, senare Kristinebergs Marina Forskningsstation (KMF). Efter 2008 då Göteborgs universitet sammanförde KMF med Tjärnö marinbiologiska laboratorium ändrades namnet till Sven Lovén centrum för marina vetenskaper.
År 1922 gifte Otto och Astrid sig; de var bosatta i Kolberg, Pommern, Tyskland.
År 1924 startade paret ett museum med namnet "Kolberger Verein für Heimatkunde". För ärvda pengar köptes museiföremål in. Astrid Dibbelt hade en vävskola på museet.
