Skorna har tillhört Bertil Högström, som har varit mycket intresserad av kläder under sitt liv. Han har varit något konservativ i sin klädsel och gärna haft kläder från England, dit han bland annat genom sitt arbete reste ett par gånger per år. Han beskriver sig själv som "lite av en snobb" när det gäller kläder.
Dessa skor köpte han tillsammans med två liknande par, där den enda skillnaden var att de alla tre hade olika klackhöjd. Detta par hade den högsta klacken. Skorna köptes i Ballys affär i London och Högström kommer ihåg att de var ganska dyra.
Högström valde denna skotyp för att han tyckte den var fin, speciellt tåpartiet. Han hade tänkt använda dem som en finsko vid tillfällen där inte en mer formell snörsko behövdes. Men skorna kom aldrig att användas. Utan dessa, liksom de andra två paren inköpta vid samma tillfälle, förblev oanvända, Dock fortsatte han tycka att de var snygga, varför han aldrig gjorde sig av med dem.
Skomodellen är typisk för tiden runt 1970, då en högre klack för herrar var modernt och klacken ofta var rak. Den höga klacken för herrar fick en skjuts av att popgruppen Beatles på 1960-talet bar högre klackar, speciellt den så kallade cuban heel, där klacken är avsmalnande nedåt baktill. Dessa skor har endast en svag antydning till detta.
