- Ostkustbanan (OKB) som öppnades så sent som 1927 hade övertagit rullande materiel från SJ, bl.a. A-lok och för att få standardisering i lokparken byggdes två H3-lok med från privatbanestandarden avvikande utseende. OKB-loken försågs med ångpannor och löpboggier av samma typ som för SJ:s A-lok och med det höga pannläget fick loken ett avvikande utseende. OKB förstatligades redan 1933, och loken OKB nr 24 och 25 fick littera A3 vid SJ. OKB nr 24 överlämnades efter slopning 1970 till Sundsvalls stad för uppställning, men övertogs 1978 av Ostkustbanans vänner (OKBv) som rustat upp loket i driftfugligt skick. Loket har där använts som driftlok och bl.a. varit med i jubileumsresa på Ostkustbanan hösten 1977, kört chartertåget "Baltic steam safari " Sundsvall-Storlien sommaren 1985 och deltagit i ”Järnvägen 150 år” 2006. När OKBv minskade ner på sin verksamhet 2016 övertog Sveriges Järnvägsmuseum ångloket.
